Tactical Emergency Casualty Care

In USC-S’ Tactical Emergency Casualty Care training for law enforcement officers (LEO), law enforcement officers are trained to perform tactical and medical operations in situations with an increased level of threat.

The training course is based on the TECC protocol. In the course, specific skills aimed at stabilizing the injured are covered and USC-S makes use of the latest teaching materials. Situational awareness, in high-threat situations with one or more injured individual, is a central concept throughout a TECC training course.

In situations with a high threat level, such as a terrorist attack, the area around the attack ('hot zone) is often closed off to medical workers because safety cannot be guaranteed. In such situations, it is not possible for emergency medical services to treat victims, forcing law enforcement officials to stabilize the injured persons themselves or to ensure that the injured persons are quickly removed from site. In the TECC-LEO training, law enforcement officers are trained according to an evidence-based protocol on how to act in such situations.

The TECC-LEO training lasts for a day and can be extended with additional training days, in which different scenarios, tailored to the professional context, are offered for in-depth study.

Module for covert firearm carriers

In addition to TECC-LEO training, USC-S also offers a course for covert firearm carriers. In this training, the theory of tactical-medical action without a TECC kit or other materials for pre-hospital trauma care is discussed. After discussing the theory, a scenario training follows that is tailored to the professional context of covert firearms users.

Our instructors

TGA’s medical instructors have extensive experience in providing training courses and have operational practical experience. The instructors have provided care as a medical specialist in high-threat situations and have experience in decision-making under stressful circumstances. This knowledge and experience enables our instructors to prepare trainees effectively for a variety of scenarios in the tactical / medical domain. All USC-S TECC-LEO instructors are PHTLS and TCCC trained.

Fire brigade and security

The TECC-LEO training is not only indispensable for law enforcement officials but can also be offered to prepare firefighters for terrorism repression (TECC-LEO Fire brigade) and security guards for situations with a high threat level and one or more wounded (TECC-LEO Security).
