Stakeholder Mapping

Stakeholder Mapping is the process of identifying key stakeholders related to a project. The process involves identifying all persons who have influence over a project’s results. A stakeholder of a project can be one person or several individuals, such as in the case of large public infrastructure projects.

Once all project stakeholders have been identified, the project manager will map or categorize them based on different levels of engagement. Stakeholder mapping takes place at the following two levels:

• The degree of interest in the project

• The degree of influence exerted over the project

Stakeholder Mapping enables companies to build and strengthen links with the relevant external stakeholders.
