Combat Life Savers (CLS) have a secondary medical task within a unit. In the Combat Life Saver course, trainees learn to stabilize a victim under a variety of conditions and prepare for them for transport to a base with a medical facility. We have taken 'Train as you fight' as the starting point of the course. TGA, therefore, makes use of the latest educational resources to cover all relevant medical procedures extensively in various realistic scenarios.
All TGA medical training courses for military personnel are based on the TCCC protocol (outsourcing).
TCCC stands for Tactical Combat Casualty Care and is NATO's norm for tactical medicine training. Situational awareness, or environmental awareness and anticipation, is an essential concept throughout the course. In a TCCC course, specific skills are addressed. These are aimed at controlling a crisis situation and stabilizing/evacuating wounded individuals. The course is based on the MARCH protocol and prepares trainees for the provision of care under fire.
TCCC is evidence based and is being developed non-stop by the applicable authorities in the sector.
USC-S medical instructors have operational practical experience. The instructors have provided care as a medical specialist in situations with a high threat level and have experience in decision-making under stressful circumstances. This knowledge and experience enables the instructors to prepare trainees effectively for a variety of scenarios in the tactical/medical domain.
